Q. Who do you help?

A. We have vast experience helping executives, directors, NEDs and C-level professionals in the UK and globally.

Q. What do you help with?

A. Primarily CVs, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, personal statements, bios, career coaching and job interview preparation. Occasionally existing or business clients also ask for us to help them with additional work such as bids, marketing documents and web content, though first and foremost we specialise in top-quality executive CVs.

Q. Do you really guarantee to improve any professional CV?

A. Yes, we’ve been improving the CVs of supposed “top firms” on a daily basis for over 20 years.

Q. Is it a real guarantee or just a claim?

A. We’re aware that other firms’ guarantees are often just unsubstantiated claims, but ours is a real money back guarantee. Click for details.

Q. Do you improve much?

A. Improvements tend to be dramatic and on numerous fronts.

Q. What kind of improvements do you make?

Q. Do other firms guarantee to improve Executive CV Services CVs?

A. No.

Q. Why not?

A. You’d have to ask them, but if they were capable of improving our CVs they’d say so and back it up with a real money back guarantee.

Q. Do you farm out CVs to others?

A. No. We’re not a typical company. We put quality and customer interests first, so don’t farm out CVs to the typical pool of freelancers and contractor firms (including contractor firms in places like India and Africa).

Q. Who writes your CVs?

A. Our small and highly talented team of genuine top CV writers.

Q. Do you just tweak templates?

A. We are aware that some CV service companies just copy and paste your original entries, and/or tweak standard templates. However, we are not a typical company, and we don’t do any of that. On the contrary, we work on a bespoke, original basis, rewriting your CV from scratch and tailoring it individually for you, your circumstances, your target and your goals.

Q. Where are you based?

A. We are in the UK but have vast experience serving clients internationally.

Q. Why don’t you have a call centre?

A. We’re not one of the typical CV ‘factories’. On the contrary, we offer a higher quality and more personal service with genuine top international CV writers.

Q. Why italicise ‘genuine’?

A. Because not everything is what some so-called “top” CV firms would have you believe. And that includes the quality, experience and expertise of writers. Click here to discover more

Q. Who will deal with my enquiry.

A. We don’t have salespeople. Your enquiry will be dealt with personally by Paul, our head writer.

Q. Will you send me spam or pester me with calls?

No. As mentioned, we are not a typical CV firm. We won’t send you spam, badger you with calls or resort to typical CV sector false statistics and scare tactics.

Q. Why don’t you have more writers?

A. We prefer to be small and offer a more personalised service. That said, if there was another exceptional writer out there somewhere, then we are open to him/her joining us. That said, there is far more to CV writing than meets the eye, it takes a great deal more expertise than most people realise, and we’re far fussier than most. Unfortunately, the vast majority of applicants don’t get past the first test. This includes applicants from “top” firms.

Q. Why do you take longer than other firms?

A. Do you want the best CV for you? Or the fastest one? Because you can’t have both! We are honest and quality-focussed with our clients’ best interests at heart. Yes, we could churn out CVs in factory fashion as various “top” CV firms do. But anything of quality takes time. That’s a fact, and we don’t pretend otherwise. We take our time (more time than other firms), but that’s deliberate and is necessary if you want the best CV for you.

Q. Do you have a priority service?

A. Yes we do. When available, our priority service isn’t the same as one of those counterproductive “express” services. We take our time and do the job properly, it’s just that you go to the front of the queue and not the back. Most priority clients give us 5-8 working days and we usually find that is about right.

Q. How does the process work?

A. We make things as easy and as seamless as possible for you. If we can save you time and effort we will. As such we won’t ask you to fill in unnecessary questionnaires or spend an hour of your precious time telling us what any consultant worth their salt should be able to derive in a fraction of the time.

Q. So aren’t hour long consultations helpful?

A. It really depends on who is conducting them and what their motivations are. In our experience you rarely need anything like an hour, and sometimes you don’t need one at all.

Some firms do tout ‘hour long’ consultations, but they are usually padded out, and more a marketing gimmick than a good use of your valuable time.

Q. Do all clients want long consultations?

A. No. Indeed, many of our clients don’t want the burden of phone consultations at all. In such cases, we are used to working with their original CV and details of their target job as well as any other information they choose to provide (for example, a few lines of notes). And we do more with that than other firms do with one hour padded out consultations.

Q. Will things get missed out if I choose not to have a phone consultation?

A. Some people think that this might be the case, but the reality is very different. Indeed, clients are often surprised and delighted, not only at just what we include, but also how we include it (succinctly and powerfully).

When we send CVs to clients, we do say that if they want something else added then to just let us know – but it’s very rare that they want to add anything (and when they do it’s usually either something that’s already included, or it’s something that’s not relevant to their target).

Why is this?
Well, we’ve been doing this for a long time, we know what we are doing, we know what employers want to hear, and we are used to selling employers what they want to hear, very powerfully, on your behalf.

Q. How much does it cost?

Q. Are there cheaper firms?

A. Yes, there are budget firms churning out inferior CVs in factory fashion.

Q. Will it be the same?

A. Of course not!
If you want a cheaper CV you can get one elsewhere, but it won’t be the same. You can also get dearer CVs elsewhere, but they won’t be anywhere near as good either, and you’ll likely find it a false economy.

Q. Can you prove it’s not the same or as good?

A. Yes. It’s very easy for us to prove. And we guarantee improvements. See our guarantee page.

Q. How do I compare your CV service with others?

A. We’re unique and other firms can’t (so don’t) do what we do. So, you can’t compare like-for-like. This page helps explain why.

Q. How many changes can I have?

A. We’re not one of those firms who limit clients to a number of changes. On the contrary, we want you to be happy, so if you want changes within the remit then that’s fine, and we don’t count.

Q. What do you mean by remit?

A. For example, if you ask us to target your CV for a finance executive job then we’ll do that. If you subsequently ask us to target a different post or different level such as a CEO CV or senior finance director CV then that’s a different remit and you’d need a new, separately targeted CV.

Q. Are changes helpful?

A. Not always. It depends on the CV, your target, and what changes.
For example, typical “professional” CVs from other firms that clients send us to fix always need lots of changes – so many that we rip them up and start again properly from scratch.

Q. Do people request changes to your CVs?

A. It’s quite rare but it occasionally happens.

Q. Why is it rare?

A. We are thorough with requirement gathering, and by default we include client main selling points/achievements while simultaneously optimising their CV for their target job. As such, when clients see their CV there is usually nothing else they want to add (or change).

That said, we do get occasional requests for change, and when we do the requests tend to be for counterproductive. For example, elaborating on older, lower-level or less relevant jobs, repeating things or separating out neat sections. There are always knock-on effects to any change, and knock-on effects tend to have negative repercussions.

That said, it’s up to the client, and we’re happy to make changes. At the same time, we’re honest and with your best interests at heart, so if a proposed change is counterproductive we can give you the reason why, and you can decide if you want to change it or not. Most clients don’t change a thing.

Q. If I need an additional CV is this discounted?

A. Yes, we heavily discount subsequent work for valued clients. This doesn’t just include CVs. For example, some job applications require personal statements, and we can help with those. Also, some clients come back to us each time they want to climb the next rung on the career ladder. Indeed, we’ve helped (and continue to help) numerous clients on their upward executive career journey over the course of numerous years.

Q. What separates you from other CV service companies?

A. It’s easier to ask what doesn’t…
…because it’s pretty much everything!

Q. Are your CV services value for money?

A. It depends on how much value you place upon your career and career progression. If you are just looking for a CV of sorts that looks presentable and describes previous jobs then even most typical ‘professional’ firms are capable of providing that.

Q. How can I pay for the service?

A. We accept credit card, debit card, PayPal and bank wire payments.

Q. Can you write CVs for entire boards?

A. Yes, sometimes we help the entire members of a board. This can be for a variety of reasons including redundancy packages, or proposals for bids/tenders or loans/investments.

Q. What if I am overseas?

A. That’s not a problem.
While around half of our clients are based in UK, we regularly help clients from all around the world, and we are used to creating CVs for senior level positions in competitive international job markets.

Q. What if I am unhappy?

A. We want you to be happy, and you should be happy. Indeed, our whole service is geared up to ensuring that you are. We are committed to quality customer service and CV excellence so in the unlikely event you are not satisfied with part of your CV just let us know which aspect and we will be happy to address this for you as part of our free after-sales service.

Q. Can I have a refund?

A. Yes, if you change your mind before we start work we are happy to give you a full no quibble refund. Also if you put us to the test with a CV that you previously got from another professional CV service, then in the unlikely event that we can’t improve it we will refund your money in full.

Additionally, in the unlikely event that you change your mind about our service part of the way through the process we will give you a pro-rata refund depending upon the amount of work already done. No refunds are given once your CV has been written unless it was ordered as part of our ‘put us to the test’ initiative and for some very strange reason we did not improve the aspects we said we would in your 'put us to the test' email.

Q. What do you mean by ‘put us to the test’?

A. We have a 20+ years’ record of improving every single CV sent to us (some DIY but most ‘professionally’ written by other firms). If you send us your CV we can tell you what we can improve upfront (it’s usually dramatic enhancements, and on multiple fronts).

Q. Do I get to know who will write my CV?

A. Yes. Better still, if you have a preference you can choose who will write it.

Q. Do other companies disclose who writes their CVs?

A. Some do, others don’t. Some firms also farm out CVs to freelancers or other firms without letting clients know.

Q. Why do some companies do that?

A. You’d have to ask them, but some CV service companies do prioritise profits over quality and client interests.

Q. What happens after I order?

A. Your consultant will be in touch with you. Usually this is within the same day if it is a working day, and especially if you order in the morning or early afternoon. Your consultant will confirm your order and guide you.

Q. What is your privacy policy?

A. You will be pleased to hear that we aren’t one of those CV firms that sell your data to third parties. On the contrary, refreshingly, we don’t track you or even use cookies!

Q. Why do some people go elsewhere?

A. It’s a very good question, and we do boggle about that ourselves sometimes. One person said we ‘were not local enough’, and occasionally someone will let us know that they’ve opted for an “express service (and many firms farms out inferior CVs rapidly in factory fashion).

Significantly, some people who opt for an “express” service elsewhere, subsequently come to us to fix/rewrite their underperforming express CV. Unsurprisingly, “express” services frequently turn out to be false economies. Notably, they tend to be unnecessary too as good jobs crop up all the time. You’re better off with a genuine top CV than the fastest one. These are two very different things!

Q. Why is this?

A. Despite what some firms try to have you believe, there is no getting away from the fact that quality inevitably takes time – far more time than some companies spend on their executive CVs!

Q. Are there other reasons why some people go elsewhere?

A. One person said he went elsewhere just because our previous website was a Wordpress site, but most reasons relate to misconceptions. For example, a surprising number of intelligent executives do get swayed by persuasive salespeople and false statistics into believing that they can get a cheaper CV ‘deal’ elsewhere.

Q. Are there good deals elsewhere?

A. To our mind, this is a huge misconception. Yes, there are certainly cheap CVs of sorts out there, but that doesn’t necessarily make it a good deal. It’s only a good deal if it helps you land target jobs. If it doesn’t then the ‘deal’ is effectively another false economy.

Q. Are false economies common?

A. From what we see on a daily basis, false economies abound in the CV sector. If that wasn’t the case then we wouldn’t receive other companies’ failing ‘professional’ CVs to fix. The fact that we have had to fix thousands of failing ‘professional’ CVs over the years speaks volumes.

Q. Does any other CV firm do what you do?

A. Not all CVs are made equal. Far from it! Notably, it’s very easy for anyone to discover that there is a big gulf between us and even ‘the best of the rest’ CV firms. Simply send us any failing CV from any other professional company and once we radically transform it for you, you’ll see the gulf before your eyes in black and white.

Q. Is my information confidential?

A. Yes.

Q. Are payments secure?

A. Card and PayPal payments are processed by PayPal with PayPal’s security. We also accept bank transfers.

A. No, it is our copyright, but you are welcome to link to us.
